The mother! The Love Witch and The Blade Runner

Hello all.

Over on The Cinema Recall Podcast  I give a short non spolier look at Blade Runner: 2049.   Will fans of the original love it.  Will newcomers warm up to it.  Listen to my thoughts  or you can just read the review below.

Over on Talking Stars Podcast   I join Darren, Damien, and Kira and get into a longer discussion about the polarizing flick mother! We talk about if this movie was fairly reviewed by the general public and get into our own interpretations of the themes.

On The LAMBcast.  I won the latest Movie of The Month poll with my pick of  The Love Witch.  This very stylistic homage to filmmaking of the 60’s and 70’s was a visual treat. But was it loved by everyone.  I join host Jess, and Tony to help discuss this feature.  Stay tuned til the end for my rant on Vid Angel and an awesome game of Last Lamb Standing

I am still looking for a guest to talk about Requiem for a Dream for Cinema Recall podcast.  If you are interested in being on the show, let me know.  I have been trying to find a guest for months and have not had any luck at all.

Take care everyone.

Thanks for these. I’ll check out podcast on Mother! Just listened to your review of Blade Runner 2049. We agree pretty much on the pros/cons. The sequel wants to be arthouse but can’t escape its blockbustery design, like Aliens going for something bigger. You didn’t go into it, but I do think the music is a big part of why the original is a classic. I wish they had brought Vangelis back, the new score works well with the big sound system in the theatre, though isn’t particularly interesting as a stand-alone listen. There are unanswered questions in Blade Runner 2049 (, but those are about characters and plot, while the philosophical themes, as you say, are mostly rehash.

Chris. Yes I will agree with you the original score by Vangelis indeed Iconic Yeah I cant imagine buying the soundtrack to 2049 and listening to it by itself. Thank you for listening

Loved Blade Runner 2049. Brilliant film. Mother was…. Hmm. I enjoyed parts of it but felt a bit meh about it overall. I really must see The Love Witch! Need to track it down… 🙂

I do think if Darren Aaronofsky stopped talking about what mother meant and let us decide. Maybe the backlash wouldnt be so high. I am curious to read your thoughts on The Love Witch. Thanks for reading
