Hello gang how are ya?
Well I have been kind of shitty this past week. I lost my voice over the weekend so I had to postpone recording a recent episode of Cinema Recall. It’s been several days and I still haven’t gotten it back yet. Couldn’t even go to work because my job requires the use of my voice. So I thought this would be a good time to comment on a few trailers and short films I saw.
Doll It Up.
In this short written and directed by Yalan Hu. Timothy J Cox plays a man who has had a long loving relationship with a life size doll that he treats like his wife. After she becomes damaged from a night of lovemaking he has her replaced with a younger model. But his dreams soon to into a nightmare for our lead character when he discovered that his new love has been cheating on him with the delivery man. This short is a funny satire on how certain men view the worth of women in their lives. It’s much easier for them to have a blank piece of plastic they can control vs an actual human being with actual thoughts and emotions. The concept of this reminds me of a documentary I once reviewed called Silicone Soul that shows real people have actual relationships with life sized dolls.

The Tattooist
This is the latest project from filmmaker Michael Wong who also directed The Story of 90 coins. The Tattooist feels more like a teaser and less like a short. I love the concept of a tattoo artist who goes mad and begins killing the customers he’s working on. It would have been even cooler if the designs he has been making come to life and begin killing. At least it would have been better than Velvet Buzzsaw. Michael Wong uses a good palet of color choices in this short and if this was longer I would have loved to see what this would look like because right now what we have is a damn good teaser but nothing else. You can learn more about it by visiting the IMDB Page
Chemical Brothers – We’ve Got To Try
Seriously folks, this music video is amazing. It is certainly better than most dramas out there today. The story is all about this scientist who is training her dog to be part of the Space Program. It’s part thrilling, funny, emotional and has a real satisfying ending. If you are a dog lover. You will heavily enjoy this
Toy Story 4
Buzz, Woody and all your favorite toys are back for another sequel we didn’t want, but god damn it Disney. You may make me your bitch when you have good trailers like this. Plus the use of The Beach Boys track “God Only Knows” makes it that much cooler too.
Once Upon a Time in Hollywood
This is the latest movie from Quentin Tarantino and all I know from the teaser alone is that Leonardo DiCaprio is a famous actor named Rick Dalton and Brad Pitt Plays his stunt double Cliff Booth. Next you have Bruce Lee, Margot Robbie who I think is playing Sharon Tate, and a really cool, super hip 60’s montage that I quite dug.
Stranger Things Vol 3.
The first season of this show was amazing and one I will go back and watch again. The character arcs and overall story was really good. It used nostalgia sparingly and didn’t ht you over the head with it so much like the other seasons did. After the 2nd one I lost interest and hope they wouldn’t do a third one but here we are. This looks like it woud be the final book in the saga and I really hope it is. I can’t imagine the writers having that much to say after this volume is completed. I’m going to pass on this for now, but if the reviews and word of mouth is good. I may check this out.
The Avengers(if released in the 90’s)
Someone made this trailer of The Avengers and it is brillant. I love the all the casting choice it has. Tom Cruise is Iron Man, Brad Pitt is Thor, Jeff Goldblum is The Hulk, Mila Jovovich is Black Widow, Jean Claude Van Damme is Captain America, David Hasselhoff is Nick Fury, Denzel Washington is Black Panther, Keanu Reeves is Doctor Strange, Sarah Michelle Gellar is Captain Marvel, and Elijah Wood is Spider-Man. YES YES and More Yes. I would love to watch this movie. Damn I wish this was a real thing.
I’l be back another time. Be good to each other and do bad things.
Oh lord what could’ve been in that Avengers trailer lol
Stranger Things S3 looks good. I wasn’t crazy about S2 either but it was still a very good watch so I’m interested in seeing where it goes.
Once Upon A Time in Hollywood – I’m still not thrilled with the Sharon Tate part of it, but that trailer was interesting. I’ll probably give in and watch it.
I just hope they improve Season 3 of Stranger Things and that it’s the last. I can understand you not being thrilled about Sharon Tate. I am curious at what they do with her part in this. It does have my interest too Thank You
The trailers for Toy Story 4 and Once Upon a Time in Hollywood definitely has me excited while I also have seen the trailer for the third season of Stranger Things which does look cool though I still haven’t seen the show.
Stranger Things Season One is a lot of fun. It’s a great throw back to early Steven Speilberg and John Carpenter. I highly recommend it
