It has been a long while since I have posted anything on this blog but as you know. I have been busy posting podcasts and content over at That Moment In. I would love it if you could stop by and check it out. Over on The LAMB(aka The Large Association of Movie Blogs), they have posted their list of the nominees for September’s Movie of the Month. This time I am choosing Paul Verhoven’s erotic train wreck Showgirls as my nomination. Not because I think it is a misunderstood masterpiece. It is deserving of all the scorn it’s got, but I do think it’s one of the most fun times you will spend watching a movie. If you have a bunch of friends get together and watch this, you will have an amazing time. What makes it funny is that it’s actors take the material seriously, which just adds more to the humor for me.
I would love for this to get chosen so that we could discuss this on The LAMBcast and find out why a movie that was rated one of the worst movies of the decade has such a big cult following. MGM even released a box set to celebrate it’s 10 or 15 year anniversary, and the film still pulls in a good crowd when it has screenings.
