Cinema Recall Podcast: The Killing of a Sacred Deer(2017)

The Killing of a Sacred Deer was the latest movie from Yargos Lanthimos.  I was such a big fan of Dogtooth, and The Lobster.(click each link to read the reviews)  This was a movie I was looking most forward to.   I recently reviewed this feature over on the site That Moment In.  Be sure to listen to the podcast, because there is a bonus review of an earlier film from Nicholas Winding Refn(Drive, Bronson)

Just read your review, shame you didn’t care for it much, but that’s the way it goes. I loved Sacred Deer and put it on the same level as Dogtooth. The Lobster was interest but left me cold. I’ve been reading/ thinking about his latest and there’s definitely room for muliple interpretations. As you say, the story is frustrating, but I think deliberately so. The tone didn’t bother me. I’ll be reviewing it later this week!

Maybe that was the point of the script was to be vague and let you figure things out. I can understand and respect that in some cases, I just felt that the wasn’t sure if it wanted to be a psychological thriller or a dark comedy. Excited to read your review Chris. Thanks for reading.
