The Vern talks Gone Girl and David Fincher on Insession Film

gone-girl-656David Fincher’s latest opus “Gone Girl” is a cinematic masterpiece.  The script by author Gillian Flynn is phenomenal.  The cinematography by Jeff Cronenweth stands out.  The score by Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross is even better then their Oscar winning one for “The Social Network“.  It also has the best ensemble cast of the year.  Everyone was amazing in this movie.  Carrie Coons ,Kim Dickens , Ben Affleck, and even Tyler Perry  all deserve high praise for their work.  The real standout performance of this movie was  Roseamund Pike.  If she doesn’t get an Oscar nomination, I will be shocked.   Her role in this is so good, but I can’t tell you what’s so great about her until you see the movie.   I was extremely lucky to have been asked to be a guest on the Insession Film podcast to talk about this flick.   Hosts JD and Blake were great and we get into some good non spoilerific discussions about the flick.  The spoiler heavy one will post later this week.  To listen to the show click on the link below.  There are also links to other things David Fincher related that you should check out too.  Thanks again.

About The Vern

I love movies and I enjoy writing about them too. They both go pretty much hand in hand with each other and it's fun to discover new classics. I co host the podcasts The Film Pasture, ScreenTrax, and soon Cinema Recall. While also contributing reviews and articles to other great sites when I can.

  1. Loved this movie Vern! There’s so much more to it than the plot twists. Looking forward to reading these links!

She better get an Oscar nomination. I’ll be more than shocked. I’ll be pissed off. As good as Chastain was in Interstellar, her appearances in the film were too short to justify an Oscar win. Pike is a worthy choice in my eyes.
